Rib Fest

Join us October 1st and 2nd, 2010, for some Chili, Ribs and a great line-up of entertainment.

Rib Cooking at Rib FestOn Saturday, RibFest Competition for the “best ribs” are judged in categories by backyard and professional cookers on taste, tenderness and appearance.  The winner gives you “bragging rights for the best ribs in Peoria!  So, if you think your ribs are the best ever, sign up and compete! Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded in both categories and for overall Grand Champion.

In addition, there is a  Chili Cook-off,  a CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) sanctioned event with the winner earning points for the National cook-off in Terlingua, Texas.  The chili is judged by aroma, red color, consistency, taste and after taste.   Both amateur and professional cookers are encouraged to participate.  Trophies will be awarded to the winners.  All preparation must be done on site.  People will have the opportunity to purchase tickets and vote for the “Peoples Choice Award”.

Live entertainment is scheduled to perform during the event.  Admission on Friday is $5.00 from 5 until 10 PM.   There is no admission to the event on Saturday. Tickets for entertainment on the CEFCU Stage on Saturday night for the Emmit-Nershi Band are $15.00 in advance www.riverfrontmusic.com or $20.00 at the gate.

Vendors, including rib & chili vendors, will be available.

New this year: 1st Annual RibFest Cornbags Challenge

Get your registration in to compete in the 1st Annual RibFest CORNBAGS CHALLENGE on Saturday Oct 2nd at 1 PM.   Entry fee is $25.00 per team (2players).  Cash Prizes will be awarded. Click here to download the flyer.

COOK-OFF RULES

  • Ribs MUST be prepared and cooked on site.
  • A minimum of 6 ribs must be submitted for judging.
  • Meat will be inspected by a Ribfest / PACE official.
  • Mandatory participant meeting will be held at 3 p.m. (At least one representative from each team must attend, failure to do so will result in disqualification).
  • All contestants will be provided with a 12ft x 12ft space. If more space is needed please notify PACE by Sept. 1.
  • All contestants must be in place by 12 p.m. (noon) and all vehicles removed from the area.
  • Contestants provide their own grilling equipment.
  • Live animals are not permitted in the cooking area.
  • Selling or giving away your ribs to the general
    public is prohibited unless you are a registered vendor.
  • Please keep your area clean and sanitary at all times.
  • City of Peoria Health Dept requires each cooking area supply a free-flowing spigot container of water with an on/off valve, a catch container, hand soap and disposable towels to properly wash your hands.
