The Taste of Peoria event will take place downtown on the Peoria Riverfront on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 4:00 until 11:00 p.m. Many of our favorite Peoria area restaurants will provide a taste of their most popular menu items to a crowd of more than 20,000 local residents. A variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts will be sold for one, two or three dollars each. In addition to a variety of food samples, the Taste of Peoria features its own Margaritaville, live entertainment on two stages and new this year, specialty cocktails for a unique alternative. The entertainment line up for this year’s event includes Mister Sister, The Willies and Dr Zhivegas on the CEFCU stage and The Lewistown Tube Band, Danny Everhart, and Sextion 8 on the Festival Park Stage.
Admission to the Taste of Peoria is $2. Brochures with the layout and entertainment lineup will be available at participating restaurants. Information is also available at peoriaevents.com and in the Journal Star. (In case of rain, “The Taste” will be held on Thursday August 14, 2008.)
PACE is offering free shuttle service in the downtown area to and from the event at the Peoria Riverfront. A bus from First Student (formerly Laidlaw) will be making continuous rounds from 5:30 until 11:30.
The route will be:
- Front of the Gateway Bldg.
- Up Hamilton stopping in front of the Hamilton Square parking deck on Hamilton
- South on Monroe and turning left at Fulton. Will stop alongside the back corner of the Civic Center at the corner of Monroe and Fulton close to the Civic Center “Fulton Lot”.
- Front of the Civic Center at the drop off drive in front of the Arena entrance on Jefferson
- Corner of State & Water
- Water St across from the South end of the 401 Water parking deck (near open parking under bridge and lot by Hooters
- Corner of Harrison & Water at the entrance to the Riverfront Village lot.
